My fellow parishioners:

I realize that this is a very difficult time for us. I wish to assure you that the vestry, wardens, clergy and staff are meeting and preparing to present to you, in the very near future, a plan to promote unity and healing. As outlined in the Canons of the Episcopal Church, while Father Mark, or any rector in a parish is on leave, the Associate Rector makes all liturgical and pastoral decisions, while the Senior Warden assumes the management of the parish.

At St. Mary Magdalene Article II Section 3.02 of our by-laws indicate that:
The Senior Warden, who serves as the vice president of the Vestry and Parish, shall, when the office of Rector is vacant, be ex-officio, the president of the Vestry and Parish, and shall exercise the powers and duties of the Rector.

Mother Natalie and I accept this responsibility on your behalf and we welcome hearing from you and would like to remind you that God is very present and capable of healing any wounds.

We are truly blessed to have both an Associate Rector and a Deacon to attend to our liturgical and pastoral needs.

If you wish to speak with a member of the clergy, Mother Natalie and Deacon Lorna are here and welcome your calls. We would like you to call the office - 954-753-1400 to accomplish this. A team composed of parishioners who have undergone training in pastoral counseling is being assembled and their names and contact information will be provided as soon as possible. In addition, the church will be open for those who wish to come in for silent prayer.

Our parish has been through unspeakable grief. Many families are still recovering from the Parkland shooting on February 14th 2018. After this tragedy we comforted each other and prayed together. I encourage you to continue extending love to each other. With God's grace, time, and your participation in the healing process, we can be an even stronger congregation.

Blessings and love,

Janice D. Villiers
Senior Warden

Book Club

The May 28th Book Club is cancelled due to scheduling conflicts around Memorial Day. BUT, we will be discussing the book, The Great Alone, by Kristin Hannah, on Monday, June 25, at 7:00 pm.
"In this unforgettable portrait of human frailty and resilience, Kristin Hannah reveals the indomitable character of the modern American pioneer and the spirit of a vanishing Alaska-a place of incomparable beauty and danger. The Great Alone is a daring, beautiful, stay-up-all-night story about love and loss, the fight for survival, and the wildness that lives in both man and nature."
-(Partial Amazon description. Adult themes.)

ALL ARE WELCOME, even if you haven't read the book!

Evelyn's Emporium

St. Laurence Chapel Homeless Day Shelter is very grateful to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew for its help in closing down and moving items to storage for Evelyn's Emporium Charity Resale.
We also want to thank from the bottom of our hearts Sandra Greenland and Debbie Teate for volunteering while our thrift shop was open. Of course, I can't miss a chance to thank the faithful volunteers who bring cheer and great food to our clients once a month led by Ethel Rapp and Debbie and John Teate.

Fondly, Lorry Herdeen

St Mary Magdalene has a long relationship with St Laurence Chapel and Shelter. The shelter has recently expanded its mission to giving overnight accommodation to its clients thus increasing their needs. A&O is attempting to meet some of these needs by collecting a specific item each month. There is a basket in the narthex for your donations.

May's A & O St Laurence collection is new sneakers - both men's & women's. NEW toiletries are always needed

Phillipa Sunnergren: 954.341.6420

Members of A&O are selling St Mary Magdalene shirts for $12 each at all services. These shirts are for everyone. They are intended to unite all of us, whichever service we attend, whichever group we belong to. We hope to make a small profit that can be used to fund the various missions and outreach work that A&O supports.
