Our bishop, The Rt. Rev. Peter Eaton, will be here at St. Mary Magdalene over the weekend of August 25 and 26. He will preside and preach on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 5:00 pm . On Sunday, August 26, 2018 , the bishop will preside and preach at a bilingual Eucharist which will begin at 9:00 am . Immediately following that service, there will be a congregational meeting.
Please make every effort to attend.
School Supplies
It's time for school supplies!
As you venture out to buy school supplies for your family, or friends please remember to pick up early childhood themed supplies for our preschool or our Colombian Happy Hearts Mission. There is a box in the back of the church.
Our preschool specifically needs 5 oz cups.
Education for Ministry
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a unique four-year distance learning certificate program in theological education based upon small-group study and practice. Since its founding in 1975, this international program has assisted more than 80,000 participants in discovering and nurturing their call to Christian service.

There is still time to register for EfM classes here at St. Mary Magdalene.

Class begins on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 7:00 pm .
For more information please contact Pat Wald 954-752-4066 ASAP so we can get textbooks
Book Club
On Monday, August 27, at 7:00 pm we will be discussing the book, Mischling , by Affinity Konar.

" Mischling  is a paradox. It's a beautiful novel about the most odious of crimes, it's a deeply-researched act of remembrance that somehow carries the lightness of a fairy tale, and it's a coming-of-age story about children who aren't allowed to come of age. If your soul can survive the journey, you'll be rewarded by one of the most harrowing, powerful, and imaginative books of the year."
―Anthony Doerr, author of New York Times bestseller  All The Light We Cannot See

All are welcome , even if you haven’t read the book!

Outreach Ministry: St Laurence Chapel
St Mary Magdalene has a long relationship with St Laurence Chapel and Shelter. The shelter has recently expanded its mission to giving overnight accommodation to its clients thus increasing their needs. The Outreach Ministry is attempting to meet some of these needs by collecting a specific item each month. There is a basket in the narthex for your donations.

The summer collection is men’s sneakers, size 11+ and regular sized bath towels

New toiletries are always needed
Outreach Ministry Unity Shirt
If you haven’t already purchased your St Mary Magdalene t-shirts, order forms are in the back of the church.
Gift Cards
Publix or other grocery store gift cards are needed in the office to provide food for people who are hungry. Most cards are for $25. We get requests from within the congregation as well as from people in the community.

Next Week's Readings
Propers for the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost (Year B) :
Note : There are two different tracks during the Season after Pentecost, which in some traditions is called Ordinary Time .
Track 1 features First Readings that are semi-continuous, that is they follow the stories of God’s actions with the people of Israel spread out over multiple weeks. This is the track that most congregations and denominations follow today.
Track 2 features readings that are selected to complement the Gospel reading for the day, sharing a similar subject or theme. In both cases the psalm or canticle that follows the First Reading is chosen because it comments on or reflects aspects of the First Reading.
We follow the readings from Track 1.
